Conflict and Compromise
Premise
When students identify and understand the roots of conflict, the strategies for compromise, and the workings of the judicial system, they will be better able to develop and implement creative, nonviolent alternatives to interpersonal and intergroup conflicts.
Stream Description
- Explore the roots of conflict between people and groups.
- Examine how conflicts are mediated through the United States judicial system.
- Learn strategies to resolve conflicts and understand the need for compromise in today's society.
- Study topics including civics, forensic science, language arts, statistics, and research.
Simulations
- Work together with your peers to write and film a public service announcement teaching people the causes of conflict and strategies to prevent or resolve that conflict.
- Use your knowledge of conflict resolution and the U.S. judicial system to prepare and perform your role in conducting a mock trial for "The Case of the Missing Millionaire."
