American Tapestry

Premise

The United States has always been a multicultural society. Both an understanding of diversities and a recognition of the common bonds that unite Americans serve to distinguish and strengthen the United States and to promote success and prosperity in harmonious surroundings.

Stream Description

The American Tapestry Stream is based on individual and cooperative learning activities which focus on five major cultural groups of the United States: African-Americans, Asian-Americans, European-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native Americans. These major cultural groups are addressed through the broad topical areas of Heritage and Traditions, Growth and Change, and Current Issues. The content areas of language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science, personal development, technology, home economics, foreign language, arts, and physical education are addressed within the topical areas.
